As a lifelong Nevadan, public servant, union steward, and mother, she’s running as a Democrat for the Nevada State Assembly in District 1—covering communities in North Las Vegas—to bring real advocacy for affordability, fairness, and opportunity to Carson City.
Born and raised in Clark County, Alexis is a proud graduate of our public schools. She grew up in a union household with immigrant roots: her father worked as a union carpenter, and her mother was support staff for the Clark County School District. Those experiences instilled deep values of hard work, sacrifice, and solidarity. As a young mother, she balanced family life while working her way through school and launching a career in public service at the Clark County District Attorney’s Office.
Today, she serves as Chief Steward with SEIU Local 1107, Nevada’s largest health care and public service workers union. She’s also a co-founder and Chair for the Latino Caucus. Endorsed by SEIU Local 1107 in late 2025, Alexis has spent her career standing up for fair wages, better healthcare, safer workplaces, and dignity on the job. She filed to run in early March 2026 and is building a people-powered campaign rooted in the real struggles she’s lived and fought alongside coworkers.
Alexis understands the pressures facing District 1 families—skyrocketing costs, housing insecurity, healthcare challenges, and wages that don’t stretch far enough. She’s entering the race to deliver practical solutions from someone who’s been in the trenches.
Her core priorities include:
Affordable Housing
Pushing for more affordable units, stronger renter protections against unfair practices, support for first-time homebuyers, and innovative ways to repurpose vacant properties into safe, livable homes. No family should be forced out of the neighborhoods they’ve built their lives in.
Quality, Accessible Healthcare
Fighting to lower prescription drug prices, expand affordable coverage options, invest in mental health and addiction services, and strengthen community health clinics. Healthcare should be a right, not a source of crushing debt.
Workers’ Rights and Economic Security
Leveraging her union leadership, she’ll champion stronger collective bargaining, protected pensions, paid family and medical leave, safe staffing in essential roles, and wages that ensure full-time work means freedom from poverty. When workers are treated with respect, families and communities are stronger.
Strong Public Schools
As someone shaped by Clark County schools and now raising her own children in the district, Alexis will advocate for the resources our schools need to give every child a solid foundation and bright future.
